Extension Maintenance Products
Washing Instructions
Shampoo and Conditioning
- Always stand the head up straight. Gently wet the hair with lukewarm water and apply the 909® shampoo.
- Bring the shampoo to a lather but do not rub the extensions. Fingers should gently run through the extensions top through bottom.
- Rinse well and apply 909® Conditioner. Use Goldwell Treatment for extensions that are too dry. Avoid the bonded areas or tubes to prevent softening the bonded areas and loosening up the tubes.
- Let the conditioner penetrate the extensions by allowing it to remain in the hair at least 5 minutes.
- Comb through the extensions with a wide tooth comb before rinsing the conditioner thoroughly from the hair.
- Squeeze out the excess water from hair and pat dry with towel. Do not rub or twist the hair.
For Red-Tone Hair Extensions
Use color treated shampoo which will minimize the fading.
Avoid washing with hot water, it will open up the cuticles and will strip the colors faster.
Drying
- Air Dry: apply 909® Silk Drops or 909® Magic Spray on damp or dry hair.
- Before going to bed, your hair and extensions must be dry to prevent damage.
- When your hair is wet, the cuticles are open which can cause your extensions to tangle with your own hair while you sleep. 909® extensions and fine hair are even more likely to tangle. Therefore, blow dry at a lower heat especially on the tube or the bonded area. Moisture can soften the bonded areas or loosen up the tubes.
Hair stylists must notify their clients that most extensions are color chemical treated, except for virgin hair. The extensions will slowly dry out, and colors will fade. You must educate your clients on how to maintain their extensions, such as how to wash, brush, dry, and the use of correct treatments.
