Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best method for doing hair extensions?
It all depends on your personal preference and desired results. The Keratip method provides the most natural appearance because it uses a transparent glue to attach hair extensions. The Extentube method is preferable for those who do not want to work with glue. Advantages include the ability to quickly and easily apply and take out hair extensions. The Skin Weft and Plastic tube methods are ideal when working with weaker and thinner hair. These methods offer more flexible bonds which means less strain is put on the hair root. The newly patented One-step method provides a bond that balances flexibility with efficiency. This is the quickest, and easiest method of applying Hair extensions in existence
What do I do if the metal tubes start to tarnish and rust?
Rust stains are not visible on dark colors. In lighter colors, rust stains appear as green or blue. Simply shampoo the hair periodically and often until the stains diminish.
How do I prevent the Keratip glue from turning gummy?
The Keratip glue turns gummy when the hair extension is bonded too loosely. Prevent this by tightly securing the glue bond when applying the hair extension. To avoid this problem altogether, use the Super Keratip method, which will never turn gummy.
What is the difference between 909 and 808 hair products?
909 is 100% Ukrainian hair and is naturally wavier. 808 is 70% Chinese and 30% Ukrainian hair and is naturally straighter.
How do I prevent the One-step tubes from slipping out?
As with all tubing methods, hair will slip out if the tube is not closed tightly. Use the inner part of the Closer to apply more force when closing the tubes. Also remember to clamp directly on the thread connecting the hair to the tube.
What is the difference between the Ultra Sonic Machine and the Purging Tool?
The primary difference is the process by which the glue is melted. The Purging Tool applies direct external heat to melt the glue, while the Ultra Sonic Machine uses a steady frequency to internally melt the glue without heat.
What is the difference between the Extension Master Class and other hair extension classes?
We only use our own manufactured products of which we have complete knowledge and expertise. We know how to use our products because we make them ourselves. We teach all five hair extension methods and provide all the necessary tools to our students.
What types of base structures do you offer for top pieces and wigs?
We offer three types of tops: the Skin top, Mono top, and the Mono top w/o return. We highly recommend the Mono top w/o return. A return is the knot that forms when sewing hair onto the wig. Without this knot, the hair appears to sprout directly from the root, hence producing a more natural look.
Can you mix different types and styles of hair together?
It is always best to use one type or style to ensure consistency, however, mixing and matching is perfectly fine. Again, it depends on the desired result.
How far away from the roots should the hair extensions be bonded?
Hair extensions should be bonded approximately a quarter to half an inch from the roots.
When applying the plastic tubes, do I need to melt the glue on the Flashpoint hair?
No, you do not need to melt the glue on the Flashpoint hair. There is a thermoplastic adhesive lining already inside the plastic tube.
What is the quickest way to remove Super Keratip hair extensions?
First, apply D-bonding gel to soften the glue, make sure bonds soften enough. Hold onto the client’s hair at the top near the roots in order not to hurt them, and gently pull hair extension out.
